Image Analysis Toolbox Released

Our image analysis toolbox is out! We’ve developed these tools to make it easier for biologists to use cameras as objective data collection tools across loads of different disciplines, from testing comparative theories in biology, to animal signalling, camouflage, forensics, even plant health and identification.

The software and user guide are available here, and the paper is here. The paper published in Methods in Ecology and Evolution focuses on testing the toolbox, demonstrating how it can allow cameras to compete with spectrometers in measuring colours as perceived by animal eyes. Cameras have many advantages over spectrometers, being cheap and easy to use, while also recording millions of points in a split second, enabling pattern as well colour analysis.
